Coach Joseph Carei is Cross Country Coach at Penn State Fayette.  In only his second season, his team has won the first ever PSUAC Championship for the Fayette Campus.  He also guided four all-conference runners, included conference champion; Cameron Coffey.  The team also finished 13th at the USCAA National Meet in Virginia Beach, VA.  Team member, Kirsten Webb was also named Academic All-American for the season.     Coach Carei was, also,  named the 2016 PSUAC Men’s Coach of the Year.

This past season not only saw the team win the Conference, but win both the Greater Allegheny Invitational and the Mont Alto Invitational.  They finished runner up at Bearcat Invitational and the Scranton-Worthington Invite. 

Previous to Penn State, Coach had been coaching cross country for 22 seasons, at both the Brownsville and Uniontown School Districts.   During his tenure, the teams have won 10 conference titles and had 2 WPIAL runner-up finishes.  Individually, he has coached 10 all-state athletes, 15 WPIAL medalists and 6 WPIAL champions. He is a USA Track and Field Level 1 certified coach.

Coach Carei ran for Susquehanna University, of the former MAC conference, where he was named Runner of the Year in 1991.  He continues to run, and occasionally win, local road races.  He also helps many local runners with their racing plans and is co-founder of the Fayette Enclave, a competitive running group.

He is also a diving and pole vault coach at Uniontown High School in the Winter and Spring.

Coach Carei resides in Uniontown with his wife Stacy and 5 Children.  He is an Award Winning Chef and caterer.
