Lemont Furnace, PA – The Penn State Fayette Lady Roaring Lions had trouble finding the motivation against Penn State York Friday evening, down 17-8 after the first quarter. Although, with the crowd behind them, the Lady Roaring Lions pulled away with a 74-62 win at the end of regulation.
For the Lady Roaring Lions, senior Taylor Smith had an exhilarating night herself. Smith had a very well offensive night shooting 90% on the foul line, making 9 out of her 10 attempts. Smith finished her big night with a double-double, 27 points and dominating on the board with 12 rebounds. Courtney Haines also helped her team with 18 points and junior Haley Moreland with 12 points.
Penn State York was led by a handful of players that scored more than half of their points combined. Junior Karra Thomason gave her team 15 points and 9 rebounds and fellow junior, Emily Colon added 13 points as well. Charizma Johnson also carried the team by putting up 14 points and 7 rebounds.
The Fayette Lady Roaring Lions return tomorrow, Saturday at 2 pm to battle Penn State Mont Alto for back-to-back wins.
