Coach Carei adds track and field to the PSU Fayette athletic experience

The Penn State Fayette athletic department is pleased to announce the formation of a Track and Field Team at the Eberly Campus.  The team will start this spring, 2017.

The team was started by Coach Joe Carei, Penn State Fayette's cross country coach. .  "When recruiting for cross country, I had many athletes ask me about Track and Field.  It let me know that there is an interest on campus."  Coach Carei approached Athletic director Lou Zadecky and he was very receptive to the idea.  "We felt that it would enhance their campus experience and add an ownership factor to Penn State Fayette," said Zadecky.

The team will participate in 5 meets.  They will compete, on a regular basis, against NCAA Division II and Division III athletes.  Their season will culminate with the USCAA national Championship on April 29th at SUNY Delhi.  Right now, the team has nearly 20 members.  Coach Carei is looking for more athletes that are interested in joining the team.   "We are looking for experienced athletes or even beginners, who would like to try track for the first time," said Carei.

The team will participate in 5 meets, culminating with the USCAA national Championship on April 29th, at SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY.
